The way it was presented to me, someone had just heard it on the radio that morning, and it was presented as an actual news story, that said nothing about the devil or a hollow place or temperature, it just said the thing about the screams, so I was under the impression that it was real, and they just got the sounds of the plates shifting and decided to over-analyze it, but it's always fun to see how media can manipulate itself, too.
